Re: Barry Hearn on Becchetti: "If I was West Ham, I'd be petrified of this guy."
I'm terrified the Bilic out lot will get their way and the Daves will bring in Becchetti.

Not really, but it's the only way I can imagine being terrified of him

Re: Barry Hearn on Becchetti: "If I was West Ham, I'd be petrified of this guy."
At that stage it was Newham which cocked up as anything like this could be construed as state aid if it does not go to tender. If they had tendered with the insistence on retention of the running track spurs would have walked away.

Re: Barry Hearn on Becchetti: "If I was West Ham, I'd be petrified of this guy."
It was west ham and Newham that were going to buy it, with live nation and others partnering (ie renting) from them

The state aid issue was raised by a bloke called Stephen Lawrence who was involved in the Olympic bI'd process for years.

Re: Barry Hearn on Becchetti: "If I was West Ham, I'd be petrified of this guy."
Hoping someone can clarify my understanding. In terms of the OS ownership piece I thought the original plan was for West Ham, Live Nation and Essex cricket to buy the stadium - West Ham the majority player.

This bid beat Spurs who wanted to buy the land and knock the stadium down; whilst building new athletics track at Crystal Palace.

Barry Hearn and Spurs were unhappy with this and called for process to the reviewed.

Government intervened and said tax payers and private venture will own it ; hence the fact we now rent and many pay tax towards it. This has caused outcry and West Ham are blamed!

Surely it was Hearn and Spurs who essentially messed up here and should have left West Ham to it.

Re: Barry Hearn on Becchetti: "If I was West Ham, I'd be petrified of this guy."
More or less, yes. Massive mistake by the council to sell the freehold to orient without a covenant concerning resale. Now that £300k freehold is earning Hearn £200k a year ground rent and that'll keep rising until he forces them out and off to Harlow or some such place.

Re: Barry Hearn on Becchetti: "If I was West Ham, I'd be petrified of this guy."
I understood he got some silly bloke to buy the club so that he can now help drive them out of business so Bazza can sell the ground for flats.
That's always been the plan, innit?

Good for them. My west ham united supporting nephew took full advantage. The hypocrisy of the 'community club' is somewhat annoying though.

Utterly despised Hearn before the OS debacle

A plague of pox and locusts upon him and his

Re: Barry Hearn on Becchetti: "If I was West Ham, I'd be petrified of this guy."
They are giving away 150K free tickets then Gavros?
Why not ? After all they are an out and out community club that doesn't care about money, so it's obvious they'd rather give away tickets for free instead of selling them...

Gavros 9:08 Mon Dec 8
Re: Barry Hearn on Becchetti: "If I was West Ham, I'd be petrified of this guy."
Remember the Stand Up For The Orient campaign, which was all about how West Ham moving to the OS and giving out 100k tickets to locals would kill the club? Turns out Orients plan to give out 150k tickets to locals is now called....Stand Up For The Orient.

Re: Barry Hearn on Becchetti: "If I was West Ham, I'd be petrified of this guy."
Should Orient get relegated to League Two surely their Italian sugardaddy will sell up quickly so then Hearn can buy back the club for a pound or so, he's got previous you know...

I've given Hearn a bit of stick on twitter.

In his defence, he takes it well.

Re: Barry Hearn on Becchetti: "If I was West Ham, I'd be petrified of this guy."
If i were an orient fan, id be petrified of what Hearn will do to them. He owns the freehold of the ground and can now charge the club whatever he pleases. Id be very surprised if they stay there over the next few years.

If you want a good laugh then have a look on the 'independent leyton orient' forum.

They are having a right old go at each other over getting PDC in as a manager :).
